Archives & Collections > General Info
The collections of the Museum are the foundation for its exhibits. Garnered from many sources, the collections include thousands of artifacts. Some are derived from times of slavery. Many of the artifacts have been provided by former slaves and their families.
Objects, documents and other items which are not currently incorporated into an exhibit become part of the Museum archives for access in research and future use in exhibits. The collections continue to grow, and items are honoured on their way toward developing the Museum.
Do you have an object relevant to Black History? Museum staff is always interested in learning about potential additions. A careful process of acquisition is required, however, so please contact the Museum to arrange a viewing to determine suitability. For more information, also see Artifact Donations.
