Rentals > Cultural Centre
The Cultural Centre is a single hall on the second floor of the Museum. It measures 40 feet, 2 inches long by 23 feet wide (40'2" x 23'). The ceiling is 8 feet high. The hall holds a different number of people depending on the function. Please inquire about the maximum capacity for your type of function.
The hall has 6 dormers, 3 on each long wall, with double windows in each, for a total of 6 windows. Windows can open although the hall is centrally air conditioned. A display case rests on each long wall. Some wall space also includes displays.
The front wall is a neutral colour, which works well as a projection area, or as a backdrop for a speaker or head table. At the front wall is a riser 10 1/2 inches high with an area 48 inches by 49 1/2 inches (4' x 4'1 1/2" x 10 1/2"). This provides elevation suitable for presentations. A television and VCR typically rest on a table on the riser (for Museum information videos), but this equipment and the riser can be moved. A high-quality retractable projection screen 64 1/2 inches wide (5'4 1/2") with adjustable height, is available for presentations as well.
The hall floor has carpet, for noise reduction, and the carpet colour is neutral. Tables, 6 feet and 8 feet long are available with assorted others possible, and 48 chairs are immediately available in the hall. A sound system is available with microphone and amplifier. Acoustics are reasonable.
A kitchenette is available in the back corner of the hall. It includes counter space, 5 feet long by 2 feet wide (5' x 2') with a single working sink. Various coffee makers, table cloths and related items are included.
Washrooms are on the main floor.
The Cultural Centre is accessible by stairs and elevator. The stairs include two flights, 8 steps each with a landing in between. There is a landing at the bottom and the top of the stairs, at the floor levels. The elevator holds 13 people, or 2100 pounds.
