Driving Directions
The Museum is located in the historic town of Amherstburg, on the Detroit River, making it easily accessible. For a map and detailed directions in a printable page, please see Maps. Parking
Free outdoor self-parking is available on the Museum grounds. Additional free parking is available on King Street in front of the Museum. Buses must park on the street and turn off engines.
Accessibility
The Museum is wheelchair accessible, including its low-rise front entrance to the main building, washrooms and elevator to the second floor. Parking and walkways are the same level.
Dining
The Museum is situated near many restaurants to satisfy a range of tastes, including several on the scenic, historic waterfront. Individuals and groups who wish to bring their own packed lunches may picnic on the Museum grounds. Eating is not permitted in the Museum.
Overnight Packages
Arrangements with local hotels at discounted rates serve to enhance visitors’ stay. Please ask about current packages.
Visitor Guidelines
To get the most of a visit and allow everyone to enjoy the Museum, please follow these guidelines.
- Coat racks are available, but secure space for belongings is not. Visitors are asked to leave all valuables and bags at home. Bags are subject to inspection. The Museum is not responsible for lost belongings.
- There is no smoking in the Museum.
- To preserve the exhibits, please do not touch any items.
- Food, beverages, candy and gum are not allowed in the Museum, to protect the exhibits.
- Children must be supervised at all times.
- Sketching is allowed.
- Photographs and videos are possible, with some restrictions. Please check with Museum staff.
